SmartFootage ("we", "us", or "our") operates smartfootage.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: your email address, collected when you create an account.
- Script content: the scripts and video descriptions you submit for analysis. This content is processed to generate segment suggestions and stored as part of your chat history.
- Payment information: subscription payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your card details.
- Support communications: if you contact us, we retain the contents of that correspondence.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: features used and actions taken within the service, collected to enforce plan limits and improve the product.
- Technical data: browser type, operating system, IP address, and error information collected for performance monitoring and debugging.
- Analytics: anonymized usage events to understand how the product is used. No personally identifiable information is included in these events.
Information we do not collect
API keys you provide for third-party media libraries are stored exclusively in your browser and are never transmitted to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the service
- Process your scripts through our AI provider to generate stock footage suggestions
- Enforce usage limits associated with your plan
- Send transactional communications including authentication links and subscription confirmations
- Monitor and improve service performance
- Investigate and resolve errors, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your script content or chat history to train AI models.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these circumstances:
Service providers: we engage third-party providers who process data on our behalf solely to operate the service. They are contractually bound to protect your data.
AI processing: scripts you submit are transmitted to an AI provider to generate segment suggestions. This data is processed solely to fulfill your request.
Payment processing: subscription transactions are handled by our payment provider, who acts as Merchant of Record for all purchases.
Legal requirements: we may disclose personal data when required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SmartFootage or its users.
Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. You will be notified before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
Data Retention
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. Chat history is retained until you delete individual conversations or your account. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your Rights
Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your personal data
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Object to our processing of your data
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children

Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 7 days before taking effect. The effective date above always reflects the most recent revision.
